Poor framing, although aesthetically pleasing, was done with highly acidic framing materials which have discolored the drawing and are embritteling the drawing’s paper. At a certain point, the drawing will become so embrittled that it will collapse. The drawing was washed in an aqueous solution in the UV chamber (see facilities) to draw out the acids and return the paper to healthy.
