Badly acid attacked from it’s framing system.
Early framers had no knowledge of acid in materials and its affect upon art. As a result, the works we see in early frames universally show extensive acidic attack. In extreme cases it can be so advanced that the work cannot be saved. Many collectors like the charm of origional frames on paper works without realizing how it is damaging the art.
In this instance we were able to reverse the damage.
