» 2. Digital Cameras for Ultraviolet and Infrared Examinations of Paintings

Our senior painting conservator, Jeronima Perez-Roca and Mark Lewis of the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virgina presented a lecture at the AIC in Denver this past April. It focused on the trend toward using the latest advances in digital photography in the study and conservation of painting.

» 4. AIC 36th Annual Meeting
April 21 –24, 2008

The annual meeting of The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, to be held in Denver, Colorado. The theme for AIC’s 2008 Annual Meeting is Creative Collaborations. The theme is an intentionally broad, meant to highlight successful projects completed by conservators partnering with professionals in other fields, such as scientists, engineers, artists, owners/shareholders, or industrial representatives. The general session and specialty groups will explore this theme, with possible topics including post-Katrina and other disaster recovery activities; protection, recovery, or treatment of cultural property in conflict zones; collaborations between the fields of art and environmental conservation; and many more.
» 5. Loss Executive Association 23rd Annual Mid-Winter Meeting
January 23 - 25, 2008

Our Senior Director and Vice-President, Gordon A. Lewis, Jr. gave a general session presentation last January and is being brought back for an in-depth workshop discussion per popular demand. The title of his presentation is "Adjusting Fine Art and Antiques Claims". In this highly illustrated session, Mr. Lewis will inform on the complex rules, and their exceptionss, governing damage in the complicated arenas of property loss. There will be a number of case studies discussed, as well as a question and answer session and a panel discussion. An xtensive handout will be given for future reference.

» 6. Structural Problem Solving for Painting on Canvas

The workshop will demonstrate historic Minimalism developments in conservation treatment techniques and the evolution of new approaches between traditional and modern methods.

Our Senior Director and Vice-President, Gordon A. Lewis, Jr participated in "Glass Weekend 2007" at the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville New Jersey. He was one of several experts during lectures, panels and breakout sessions.
» 8. Presentation on Conservation

Our senior conservator, Jeronimo Perez presented a visually enhanced lecture sponsored by Duraclean of West Palm Beach, presented to the insurance industry. This lecture consentrated on the fine art restoration techniques availabe for various disaster scenarios.
» AIC 35th Annual Meeting
2007

The annual meeting of The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, held in May of 2007. Our senior conservator Jeronimo Perez presented a visually enhanced lecture on The Fine Arts Conservancy's collaboration with FujiFilm to determine the possibilities of the S3Pro UVIR, a modified Digital Single Reflex camera
capable of capturing images in the Ultraviolet, Visible and near Infrared spectra and the impacts of this new technology as it applies to the conservation and restoration of art.
